The Cost of Distracted Driving

Impaired driving needs to be stopped. Whether it’s distractions from cell phones, alcohol, eating or playing with the radio. The consequences are just not worth it.

  1. Thanks for the reblog, Kristy! Hopefully people will read this and be more aware of the harm they can inflict with impaired driving.

    1. You are so welcome, Kourtney. I’m happy to spread the word about distracted driving whenever the opportunity arises. The guy who ran a red light on a highway and totaled my van four years ago was ‘not paying attention’ (I suspect he was on a cell phone). I’m still paying for his distraction…so it’s a subject I really believe in.

      1. Kristy, I’m so sorry to hear about what a distracted driver did to you. That’s what angers me so much. When someone doesn’t pay the price of their carelessness and an innocent person does. It reminds me of drunk driving. And it is completely unfair and preventable.

      2. Thanks, Kourtney. My injuries weren’t nearly as bad as Tonianne’s, but I will always have issues with pain if I don’t keep up with pool workouts and stretches I learned in PT. Since people should be doing stuff like that anyway, just for good health, I try not to resent it too much.

It’s hard some days though. So many accidents are preventable. But some drivers just don’t care. I was waiting to pull out of a parking lot a week or so ago when a woman drove slowly by…TEXTING…while her cell phone was connected to the charger (you could see the cord…plus she was leaning toward the passenger seat. Short cord, I guess). She had slowed down quite a bit…probably to the disgust of the LONG line of traffic backed up behind her. I wanted to follow her and slap the snot out of her.
