P.S., I Love You

With Blockbuster video stores closing all over the place, my daughter talked me into buying a few discounted movies awhile back.  Since then she’s been trying to talk me into watching P.S. I Love You.

I’m going to explain this because if I don’t, people might think I’m weird.  Okay, okay.  They already do.  But the fact of the matter is, I watch very little television.  I remember complaining mightily a few months ago because five of the seven shows I like were all coming on for a couple of months.  Five hours of TV a week is not something I do.  Usually it’s two or three, and can be weeks on end with none.

Consequently I don’t see a whole lot of commercials.  I rarely know what movies are coming out unless I happen to catch one on Hulu, but I don’t watch that much either.

So, while I’d heard of the movie, I didn’t have a clue what it was about.  Other than it might be a romance.  And Gerard Butler?   I actually thought he was an actor in an old movie called Green Card and, while I don’t dislike him, he’s not a favorite either.

Anyway, I finally gave in and watched it tonight.  Good grief!  She should have warned me that I’d need a freaking box of Kleenex.  Instead all she did was giggle afterward when I told her I cried during much of the movie.

Oh but Gerard Butler…  If he talks with an Irish accent in everything he’s in, he’s going to be a new favorite.  What a sexy guy.  Not, however, as sexy as Jeffrey Dean Morgan.  And they’re both in the same movie!

I love this movie…

  1. Such a sweet film, Kristy. So glad you enjoyed it, with or without those tissues. 😉

  2. Kristy and I are alike when it ocmes to movies – I just don’t have time. but this one sounds like it would be worth my while, on one of those nights.

another movie on my TBS list. thanks Kristy

I loved this film and wasn’t put off by his bad imitation of an Irish accent since I’m not that familiar. LOL But I’d like to be! Okay, moving along. You should allow yourself to watch more movies from time to time Kristy. You never know where that spark of inspiration will come from. Not to mention the quality time with family and friends. 🙂

    • Maybe his Scottish accent was waring with the Irish…either way, I’d like to be familiar with it, too! 🙂

Surprisingly enough, this is going to be a record few days for me, Debra. I watched P.S. I Love You last night, rented Charlie St. Cloud (not sure when I’m going to work that in but I am), and will be going to see The Vow on Sunday since our little theater FINALLY got it in.

I know you’re right about making time to watch more. I just have trouble sitting still for 90-120 minutes and not doing anything else. Even when I watch TV programs I tend to get up during commercials and pace or march in place. LOL…sometimes even during the show. Being too still drives me nuts! 🙂

  4. Kristy, this movie has got to be one of my favs! I could watch it over and over again. And it was hilarious too. And well written. I’m so glad you got to see it. I wish I had a copy. Great find! 🙂

I really like this film but Gerard Butler’s Irish accent is one of the worst I’ve ever heard. I went to see this in the cinema and when he first opened his mouth there was an audible gasp from the audience, all of us Irish and sounding nothing like him. In the end we just had to laugh at him and close our ears every time he spoke 🙂

I haven’t seen this one, we have HBO and CineMax but I rarely watch either, and I’m not usually a chick flick girl, however, this movie and Eat Pray Love have both been recommended to me. So, I may watch it. How hard am I going to cry?

    • That’s a good question. I think it will depend on the day and your mood when you start watching it. I cried frequently during the movie…but not as much as when I watched My Life with Michael Keaton. THAT movie actually made me sob. But for this one, I’d say a fair amount. You’ll definitely want tissues handy. 🙂
