Grab a Tissue…

I just watched the most amazing video about a love story that spanned decades. About a man who lost his wife after seventy-five years together. Thanks to a song writing contest, and a compassionate, generous singer, the poem Fred wrote to honor Lorraine was put to music and recorded…and is now an absolutely beautiful song.

It’s kind of a long video, and if you don’t want to know the story leading up to it, skip ahead to about 5:30 to just before the song begins. But it’s worth the almost ten minutes…just because it’s so beautiful.

I don’t even know how many times I’ve listened to it now. It’s just that kind of song, I guess. But I think it’s a little more than that. Who wouldn’t like to have that kind of love in their life? The kind that inspires lifelong devotion, and someone who writes songs for you, and feels like their other half is missing when you’re gone?

The story of Fred and Lorraine could teach the rest of us a thing or two about love.

  1. Wow, in my next life I want to be Lorraine. They only regret I have about my husband is that we didn’t meet when we were younger. I can only imagine how incredible it would be to spend a lifetime with someone who loves you like that.

Lorraine was a very blessed woman, wasn’t she? Makes you wish you could go back in time, knowing what you know now…and make better choices, doesn’t it? 🙂

I’m glad you feel that way about your husband. Maybe you won’t have 75 years together like these two did, but you know enough now that you’ll appreciate every moment you have…and that’s almost as good. 🙂
