The Nation Came Together on 9/11…

…but is being torn apart by political differences of opinion today. While the tragedy still  haunts me, I do miss the sense of unity we seemed to feel for a couple of years afterward.

We need to remember how quickly horrible things can happen, and not wait until the next time (God forbid!) before we remember what our country and fellow citizens really mean to us. It shouldn’t take people dying to remind us of what’s important.

  1. Kristy K. James says:

All of the politicians do tend to stomp their feet and have tantrums when they don’t get their way, don’t they, Steve? But it’s not just them, it’s the people. And I say this because of all of the political posts I see on a daily basis on Facebook. It just seems like politics is more important than people…and it isn’t. But the country is so divided it’s almost like another civil war…starting in Washington and spreading its way like a virus to all of the states. I just think it’s all really sad.

  2. Well said, Kristy!!! I’m sick of the whole lot of them starting with the POTUS, the FLOTUS, his entire cabinet, the Senate, and the House (both parties). They all suck!!! There are so many serious issues facing the nation domestically and abroad, yet, they all are engaged in the mother of all peeing contests. POTUS didn’t get his war vote on Syria so he abruptly canceled the yearly Congressional cookout (no reason given). Talk about taking your ball and going home. Scroll to the 2;17 mark of this link and this is what they all act like every time they open their yaps. D.C. needs a serious timeout!!!!
