Don’t ask me why, but today when I was thinking about Valentine’s Day and all the romance surrounding it, my thoughts drifted in a direction that kind of surprised me. Which direction?
Toward my kids … and the fact that taking them to movies was a lot more fun for me when Disney started catering to grownups by including more humor, sarcasm, and romance in their films. But since this is V-Day, we’ll focus on that instead of moments like…

And in keeping with the Lion King theme, not only was the romance between Simba and Nala cute, the songs from that movie were great!
I actually prefer Elton John’s version, but this one is good, too.
Another favorite is the romance that blossomed between Belle and the Beast. There’s just something so appealing about a love so strong that it can change the most hardened of hearts.
You have to know that my favorite part in this scene was when the Beast was being dolled up for his dinner date.
And the final video I’m going to share is from Tarzan. It was very convenient for me when we still lived in town and my office was in the dining room. My kids watched Tarzan every morning before school, and that meant I could sit at my desk … pretending to be busy with writerly kinds of activities … while I actually watched the show with every bit as much enthusiasm as they did. I couldn’t help it, I love the whole romance thing in Tarzan.
My only issue with the animated version of Tarzan were the scenes where he was squatting down. All I could think – every time – is …. thunder thighs.
Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie. I love a lot of them but that one is my favorite. I love when Beast is getting all dolled up. The curls make me laugh every time!!
Oh…when he says he looks stupid, that’s the best isn’t it, Samantha? Beauty and the Beast is definitely one of my favorites. 🙂
Definitely the best! I love it all. 🙂
Love it! And for those who don’t feel like they matter? Here’s an awesome Disney song for them (and one of my all time faves).

That’s beautiful, Kitt. I guess I’ve never seen that one before. Haven’t heard the song either. Thanks for sharing it. 🙂
