Check Your Holiday Spirit at the Door….

I know I’ve used this song a few times, but it’s really the only one I can find that is so appropriate for so many situations…

~~~
Recently, I’ve run into two people like the ones in the video. Last week, someone took a parking spot I’d been waiting for, and today… Well today, I suppose the woman at the store would be like the guy in the sports car at the beginning of the video.
My daughter and I had to make a quick trip to the store for a couple of things and while there, happened upon three women blocking an entire aisle. We stopped and waited, and after about ten seconds, I was surprised when none of them moved. Maybe ten more seconds and the older one finally stepped aside. And when she did, her daughter blew a gasket, nearly shouting,
“Mom! You don’t get the ‘F’ out of the way until they say excuse me!” (and she didn’t just say ‘F’ either)
She continued spouting off, but I don’t even know what she said after that. I remember muttering something about most people would have been considerate and gotten out of the way – or not blocked the aisle in the first place.
Even now, hours later, all I can think is wow, the nerve of some people!
I honestly don’t get how someone who is so blatantly discourteous can expect another person to live up to their idea of polite. I thought I was being polite when I didn’t say a word about how rude they were.
I’ve never been cussed out in a store before, and  for nothing more than waiting quietly for someone to remember their manners well … again, all I can say is wow.
If you’d run into a Ms. Personality like I did, how would you have reacted? I honestly wanted to say more, but having never been a fan of making a spectacle of myself, I just walked away.
It seems that forgetting manners seems to be commonplace these days though. Especially in November and December. People tend to, as I said in the title, check their holiday spirit at the door the second they step into a store – and leave it there until they head back out to the parking lot. And the closer it gets to Christmas, the worse it gets.
Have you noticed a similar trend where you live?
And now, because I’m going to try my best to put the incident out of my mind, I’ll leave you with this…
It is the most wonderful time of the year … and I won’t allow mean people to bruise my Christmas spirit.
    rudeness is far too common in today’s society. I’m happy you just walked away instead of being rude too. Thanks for being a good example. love that you ended this post with the first holiday song I’ve heard this season
    How rude. You were right to walk away. I would have gotten into trouble for telling that girl exactly what kind of person she was! I have a temper.
    In a toy store in Ireland, two women got into a fight over a doll from Frozen. It made the national news. 🙂
      Hi, Emma…
      I’m the same way with the temper. LOL…guess my fear of getting beat up for telling someone like that off was stronger than my need to get an opinion off my chest. I am not (and never have been) much of a fighter, and I’m guessing with her mouth, she is (because she HAS to be).
      Wow. A fight over a doll. Something their kids and grandkids can look back and be proud of, hmm? 😀
    I have had my run-ins with rude people too. I’ve worked retail for many, many years. Seems like people get worse and worse every year! And it seems like the Christmas Holiday shopping experience is turning into an all out war. I love the hustle and bustle of shopping during the holidays, but not the rude people.
      Hi, Denise…
      I sure don’t envy you having to deal with the holiday madness. I’ve never been a big fan of shopping – even as a teen with babysitting money burning holes in my purse. I’m fairly sure this woman would be the same no matter what time of year it is though. It never ceases to amaze me how some people behave in public. 🙂
