Ed’s Book Is Almost Here!!!

When I wrote The Daddy Pact, it was a standalone story. I’d planned to write Sam and Holly’s book too, but only as a grownup version of something I did when I was a teenager. They weren’t going to be connected. There was no Chris, no Jon, no Cal, and the only part Ed played in Dan’s story was at the jail early in the book, and then the phone call after Emma took Jess to her doctor.

Then someone dropped off a bag of books they didn’t want – and Debbie Macomber’s Midnight Sons series was in it. It was the first series I’d ever read … and I loved it!

And it got me wondering if I had it in me to write my own series – and if I did, how could I do it. It took a while, but I already had The Daddy Pact, and I was working on the outline for A Hero For Holly, and I realized if I made some changes, I could use those for the first two.

But how to tie them together?

Ed was the obvious answer. I don’t even remember how I decided to make him their coach, and finally, a lifelong friend, but after that, Jon and Cal came into being. So I had four. Chris took a bit longer to come to life, but once he did, I was set.

What I didn’t expect was for everyone to love Ed as much as they did. I’d never planned to write a story for him. Cal’s book was always supposed to be the final book in the series, and I tried to tie everything up.

But you still wanted Ed to have his own book…

It took most of 2014 to come up with a legitimate storyline for him because I wasn’t going to write something just for the sake of writing it. There had to be a good reason for him to earn seventh place (technically sixth, but I had to give Darby’s novelette a number too).

And now he’s almost ready to greet the world, a star in his own right. We’re looking at a tentative release date of December 21st – just in time for Christmas, and I couldn’t be more excited.

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????This is the couple I’m using for Ed’s cover, though it won’t be this photo. There was another setting I thought was more appropriate. And then there’s the fact that this one is very similar to the one I chose for Jon’s book…

As soon as I get the file for the final cover, which should be in a day or two, I’ll share it here. I hope you’re as excited about ‘The Detective’s Second Chance‘ as I am.

Yup. That’s the title. 🙂
