Color Me Embarrassed. Really Embarrassed.

Surprised kid~~~

By now, anyone who has been following me for a while knows that if books were children, Enza would be my much loved, spoiled baby. It’s not that I don’t work hard on all of the books I write, but with Enza, I pretty much quadrupled every effort I’d made before – or have since. I was striving for perfection.

Did I ever miss that mark…

Yes, I know perfection is impossible. Yes, I know that even traditionally published novels have typos and errors professional editors miss. But I don’t like to miss those things. Things like doubling up on words, missing words, wrong words altogether. And there were plenty of those things in Enza.

Why, after two years, am I going back through this book, you ask? Why do I want to give it a bit of a makeover? Because the Coach’s Boys series is finished (yes, I’m still going to try to write a story for Ed), and the NaNo book is (hopefully) almost ready to be published.

Also…it’s just time for me to work on something different. I need a change of fictional scenery. I’d always kinda/sorta planned to write a sequel for Enza, but then I realized I need a prequel, too. A story leading up to the 1918 influenza pandemic. A novella I can offer at no cost to introduce everyone to the readers I’ve come to love so dearly.

So… I’m thinking I’ll take the summer to work on both the prequel and the sequel.

For those waiting for Fin and Nolan’s books (the Casteloria series – books 2 and 3, following Laying Low in Paradise), I’ll be working on those outlines, too. The plan is (tentatively) to have Nolan’s book out this fall, and Ed’s (the Coach’s Boys) at Christmastime.

But right now, I’m craving a history fix. Yes, I’m the nerd who loved history classes, and who still spends too much time looking up things that happened in the distant past.

I hope you’re as excited as I am at the thought of revisiting old friends.
