Fabulous Fridays

I’ve decided that my blog needs an overhaul.   To a point.  In an effort to stay up to date in the blogosphere, I realize that mine might be lacking in some areas so,  after giving it a great deal of thought, I think I’ve come up with a plan.

Magical Mondays, Whatever Wednesdays, and Fabulous Fridays.

Kicking the change off at the end of the week is a little strange, but then I am, too, so no one should be especially surprised.

What is a Fabulous Friday?  The day I’ve chosen to spotlight other writers.  The people themselves, their novels, and/or their blogs.  Whatever Wednesday?  Pretty much the same thing I’ve been doing.  And Magical Monday…  That’s going to center around my favorite subject.  Romance.  Books, movies, music, couples, relationship tips…you name it, I’m going to write about it.

So let’s get started with a few authors I particularly enjoy.

I first noticed Breeana Puttroff this past summer, when I stumbled onto the first three chapters of her novel, Seeds of Discovery (from the Dusk Gate Chronicles).  Talk about being hooked on a book from page one!  I’d tell you more about it but then I’d have to kill you.  Just kidding.  If you want to find out more though, you’ll have to check out my review, along with all the rest them, at Amazon.com.

I enjoy her blog, too.  Breeana is excited and enthusiastic…all of the time…as she shares with us about her life and her writing.  She also inspires me to keep my nose to the grindstone by keeping track of her own progress in the second book of her series.  A book I’m privileged to see before most anyone else because, for the first time in my life, I’m a ‘beta reader.’  I had no idea what that meant before meeting Breeana but have to say, I really like that job!  Especially when I love a book as much as I do Seeds of Discovery.

Moving on, I want to bring Shelly Immel and her website, The Big Life Project, to your attention.

While I don’t know Shelly all that well yet, I hope to become better acquainted with her because she is a real sweetheart.  And her website is something I think every person needs.  It’s an upbeat reminder that we only have one opportunity at this life we’ve been blessed with…and we need to live it to the fullest.

Given that Shelly suffers from a chronic illness that could, if she allowed it, steal her joy, she is a breath of fresh air in this often jaded, selfish world we live in.  But she doesn’t allow it to steal anything.  I was so inspired the first time I visited her website…  To see someone living her life like it matters, in the face of overwhelming challenges, it challenges me to do the same.  Watch her video and see if you don’t walk away with a smile on your face.  Along with the desire to live your life a little bigger, too.

Last, but certainly not the least this week, is Karen Pokras Toz.  Karen is another relatively new friend who wrote a terrific pre-teen book called Nate Rocks the World.  I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again….it reminds me of one of my favorite Christmas movies, A Christmas Story.  You know, the one with the warning, “You’ll shoot your eye out.”  I liked it so much, in fact, that you’d have thought was a pre-teen!

Karen’s blog is also a lot of fun.  She writes about everything from what it’s like to plan a couple of birthday parties, with a surprise (and uninvited) guest…Hurricane Irene, to sitting through the first football game her little boy played in, to her fluffly, nine pound kitty (who looks almost as big as my non-fluffy, twenty + pound cat, Sam).

Like Shelly, Karen also suffers from a debilitating illness, Rheumatoid Arthritis, yet she has an incredibly positive outlook, too.   She is also very generous in her attitude about other authors.  Instead of being jealous, as some could be, Karen freely promotes them, via her blog and Twitter.

So there you have this weeks Fabulous Friday lineup.  Three ladies I’m very glad I’m getting to know.  Take a few minutes to get to know them, too.  You won’t be sorry.  🙂

Hi, I think your blog might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your website in Chrome, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, great blog!

  2. Love your new format Kristy (& I’m not just saying that b/c I’m in it lol!) Thank you 🙂 xo

    • Thanks, Karen…and you’re welcome. Now let’s see if my adult acquired ADD can be reined in enough so that I can keep this up every week, lol. I’m pretty used to blogging about whatever runs through my mind at the time so…time will tell. 🙂
