Feliz Navidad

I just want to take a moment to say, during this holiday season, that I’m thankful for so very many things.  My loved ones, my home.  The privilege to be live in a country that, even with all its faults, is a great country.  I’m even thank for my zoo.  Most of the time.

But this year I have a new reason to give thanks…for the new friends I’ve made during the whole indie author experience.  And I have met some of the most talented, genuinely nice people anyone could ever hope to meet.

When I first got started, I thought it was all about reaching the destination.  Now I know it’s not.  It’s the journey that’s the important thing, the people you meet along the way, the things you learn in the process.

Achieving my goals might be the icing, but without the cake the icing is nothing more than a bunch of gloppy sugar sitting in a bowl.  A few tastes and you wish you had the foundation of the cake to go with it.  So it is with success.  It’s nothing without a supportive foundation.  And I consider so many of you to be part of the foundation I’m building this new life on.

Over the next year I hope to get to know all of you better, to read more of your work (those who are fellow authors), and to continue with you along this path we’ve so recently embarked on.

And so, as I get ready to tackle a still enormous list of things I need to accomplish in the next couple of days, I want to say…in the immortal words of Jose Feliciano…I wanna wish you (readers and writers alike) a Merry Christmas!

  1. Oh yum! I LOVE carrot cake…especially if there’s plenty of cream cheese in the icing! Not sure what Romanian fruit cake is, but I’ll be sure to look for a recipe. I do NOT like what we call fruitcake, but fruit and cake together…well that could be a different story. Especially if there’s enough fruit that it would fall into the good-for-you category (and not just the good-for-your-taste-buds one).

And Merry belated Christmas to you, too! It would be cool to find ourselves in the same physical location someday. Tea and cake sounds really good. 🙂

Merry belated Christmas, Kristy! Onward, icing-bound, but eating our cake as we go!

Just in case we’re ever in the same physical location and get a chance to transform metaphor into tea and dessert… I prefer cakes w/ texture and substance, like carrot cake or Romanian fruit cake (which really is cake with big chunks of fruit in it, not what we call fruitcake). 😉

Merry Christmas Kristy!!!! I feel blessed having met you! You are so right, the journey is so very important. May we never forget that. Thank you for the reminder. I’m very happy to read that your computer is up and running virus free again. Yay! What a wonderful Christmas present. (That cost you. :-/) I probably won’t talk to you again until January so have an amazing new year’s celebration!

    • Merry Christmas, Debra! I feel the same way and have enjoyed getting to know you. 🙂

Yes, I am thrilled about having my good computer back…and don’t even care that it cost me to get it running good again. It’s so nice to visit websites and not have the browser freeze and need to be restarted. LOL…I’m probably happier than a 5 year old on Christmas morning.

      Have a great cruise! 🙂

  4. Merry Christmas, Kristi. Loved your blog! I agree wholeheartedly. It is SO the journey that matters most!

  5. Merry Christmas, Kristi. I too look forward to getting to know you better. enjoy the journey

  6. Merry Christmas Kristy! It has been so great getting to know you this year! I agree – I have met some really wonderful and special people in this indie journey. I Dont know if you saw, but I put a review for The Daddy Pact on GR & Amazon http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/244105148 Let me know if you want me to post it anywhere else. Enjoy the holidays!

    • Merry Christmas, Karen! I’ve enjoyed getting to know you, too, and will continue to be stunned every time I read about your 6′ 3″ tall son! Of course tall doesn’t run in my family. At 5′ 4″ I was slightly taller than my grandpa, too. Although I’m tall for a girl in this bunch. My mom didn’t even hit five feet, and my sister is barely there. I think 5′ 10″ is the tallest guy. 🙂

I did see the review, thank you SO much. I commented at Amazon, and on your blog (I hope). I’ve been working on a nasty computer the past few weeks so I haven’t gotten much of anywhere online. But my computer is BACK…and healed from that rotten Trojan, and I’m to start getting to more places online again. 🙂
