Getting Fit

I can’t believe it’s been almost a month since I wrote a post. First, I couldn’t use the site during the “makeover” (hope you love it as much as I do!). Then I was kind of scared to touch anything because this new design is a lot more technical than anything I’ve ever used—and I was afraid I’d screw it up.

The other reason is I was working hard at getting my new book, The Accidental Wish, finished, edited, and polished, but it’s finally here! It’s available at Amazon and Smashwords already.

Not sure when it will be up at Barnes & Noble and iTunes, but I’ll post links on my Facebook pages: Kristy K. James and Kristy K. James Readers Group as soon as I know. Incidentally, in case you didn’t know, I started the readers’ group because Facebook posts on author pages don’t go out to many people these days and starting the group was the only sure way to keep in contact with readers who like to chat. Just click to join if you like. 🙂

That news out of the way, I’ve decided to try something new. As you may have guessed from the title, I’m going to start focusing on getting fit. I think I’ve gone as far as I can with adding supplements to deal with the hypothyroidism. Between that and lingering issues from the accident, I’m not sure what ‘fit’ will look like on me, now, but I’d like to drop a little weight and make exercise a regular part of my routine again.

Nope. I don’t have gym, or a membership to one … because I’d have to figure on about four hours of driving time each week to get to the closest facility three times a week. However, I do have a treadmill (gotten to help with physical therapy in 2009), a balance board (same reason), hand weights, stretch bands, and a bar thing with stretch bands (which I assume is to mimic weight lifting). I also have measuring cups and a food scale—and a strong desire to feel good again.

I already try to get up and walk around the house or march in place for a few minutes every half hour when I’m writing or editing, so even if I didn’t have the treadmill, I’d still get the walking in. And in the past, I’ve used cans of veggies for hand weights. So you can see it doesn’t take special equipment.

And that leads up to this … if any of you have been thinking about doing something similar, please feel free to join me here. I’m going to try to post updates once a week—and it would inspire me more than you know to see how you’re doing in the comments. And I hope my progress might inspire you too.

So watch for the updates—and I’ll look forward to hearing from those of you who want to jump on board.
