Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m heading to bed about five hours earlier than usual, but wanted to take a moment to wish my family, old friends, and new friends a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

My holiday weekend started out with being stuck on the freeway in a traffic backup longer than anything I’ve ever experienced before. However, it wasn’t so bad because there was snow on the western side of the state. But what was supposed to be a five or six hour round trip wound up taking almost twelve between a jackknifed semi (or ‘hijacked’ like I wound up telling someone, lol). Then there were the waves of the snowstorm causing slick roads and whiteouts, adding another three hours to the drive. Only to arrive home to zero snow. Kind of makes me glad we made the trip today if for no other reason than it was beautiful.

Kristy K. James - 11-27-13 3 hour traffic backupThis is one picture of the backup. Yes, I keep my distance on slippery roads so I have some wiggle room in case the people behind me don’t stop fast enough.

Kristy K. James - 11-27-13 SNOWThe scenery for about half of the trip. Beautiful!

Kristy K. James 11-27-13 - Beginning of the stormThe first wave of the storm has started, and visibility isn’t the greatest, but that’s okay cause the van wasn’t moving when I took this. Of course neither were about twenty miles of other vehicles either.

If you’re traveling this weekend, I hope it’s a little less eventful than this trip was for me. 🙂
