Insomnia Has Reared Its Ugly Head…Again

In the past ten days or so, I’ve probably gotten enough sleep to cover about half of those nights. At the moment, I’m running on maybe 3 1/2 hours sleep, and am heading out to run a few errands. Before you run for cover, my daughter is driving, not me. My daughter who can easily sleep eight, ten, sometimes twelve hours. As opposed to her mother, who usually struggles to get six or seven.

So today’s post is definitely lacking. But thanks to MJ Monaghan, I was reminded of a favorite song…that seems disgustingly appropriate for this afternoon.

Girl, you need to get some sleep. I end up crashing after I let myself go like that. In fact, you should opt for the bed instead of the blog when things get that bad.

KK, what’s up with the insomnia??

Are you not medicating properly? hehe

Seriously, is this a result of the accident, or something that has happened off and on? I find insomnia very interesting. For me, when I reduce, and/or limit carb intake I sleep much better. Well, and my weight stays more consistent also. But that’s an aside.

Please talk with Dr. MJ. 🙂

Oh, and thanks for linkin’ up even though you were on empty. 🙂

    • LOL…I actually have some Vicodin that would put me out like a light, but I hate it, which is why I still have it after two or three years.

In a roundabout way this is because of the accident. I spent two years or so sleeping 3-4 hours out of every 24…and functioned surprisingly well on it. However, I knew it wasn’t healthy, and as everything started returning to normal, I forced myself to start sleeping more. You’d be shocked at how hard that is to do. So all it takes is a few off nights and my brain is wanting to go back to the 3 or 4 hours. Sad thing is, I still think I function better on that amount of sleep. 🙂

So, Doc, what should I do? 🙂

Hope you beat the insomnia son, Kirsty.

  4. Oh, Kristy, you poor thing. I need to thumb through my old graduate school syllabi. I know there were some books that would cure your insomnia. I had to prop my eyelids up with toothpicks.

    Hope you’re better soon. xoxo

    • I’m bouncing back and forth between feeling pretty good, and wondering how bad the eyelid piercings from toothpicks might be. Things should settle down in the next few days. I hope. Although truth be told, I usually more productive on 3-4 1/2 hours sleep than any other amount I can get. But I spent at least 2 years living on that amount every night. So I guess my brain still likes it…and it doesn’t take much to put me back on that schedule. LOL…it’s a lot more trouble than you’d think to work back into a regular sleep schedule.

I’ll let you know if you should hunt up those books… 🙂

  5. I can’t imagine trying to work without sleep. Makes me crazy and grumpy.

    • It’s not really making me crazy or grumpy, but it’s really making for a long evening. If I go to bed now, I’ll be starting my day at two or three in the morning, and if I take even a short nap, I’ll be setting the stage for a few more days exactly like this one. So my goal is midnight. A long three hours and forty-five minutes away. Given that it’s going to be an even longer Tuesday and Wednesday, it will really be to my advantage to try to stay awake right now. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz 🙂
