Sometimes, life can be a little rough…
And no one knows more about that than Detective Ed Winslow. But just because the mystery of his stalker has been solved doesn’t mean everything is all sunshine and rainbows now. The question is, will things ever settle down enough so he can make more permanent arrangements with the love of his life? Or will there always be something else to stand in their way?
How long, exactly, is a girl supposed to wait…
Jenna Taggert is nothing if not patient. In nearly three years, she’d never once considered walking away, not even after being kidnapped by the person whose only goal in life was to kill the man of her dreams. By his side is the only place she wants to be. Still, she can’t help but hope that, one day, they might make a life together.
“That looks painful,” Dan said, opening the door when the bell sounded. Jenna had given him a heads up on the incident at the hospital saying Ed didn’t want anyone fussing over it, that he was fine, but the wound on his neck was bruised, and red, and ugly.
“Trust me, it is.” The snappy retort might have sounded more amusing if his voice wasn’t just the tiniest bit scratchy. “But there is a silver lining.”
“Yeah? Let me take your coats.” As they removed them, he hung them in the closet.
“At least now they’re making sure none of the patients have access to anything with electrical cords.”
“That’s silver all right.” He looked at Jenna. “Jess is in the kitchen finishing things up if you want to head out there.”
“All right. I will, thanks.”
“Where are the kids?”
“Spending the night with Ty and Emma.”
“So this is a grownup dinner?” He looked suspicious, and rightly so given how they’d all ganged up on him over the past couple of years.
